Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Fahrenheit 451 is the first fiction book I have read after having a long run of non-fiction book reading.

I really enjoyed the story. It was written in such a way that, even when I was in a loud lunch room, I could disappear completely into the story and not be distracted by any stimuli around my physical body.

Ray Bradbury is known for his original metaphors, and I enjoyed them. They were just enough to be fresh, but not so much as to be cheesy.

Then there’s the story. It stands tall among other great stories such as Brave New World, 1984, etc. I wonder whether the mark of a great science fiction book is that we (as humans) subconsciously know that the story is basically a prophecy of where we are heading in the future? So many of the dystopian stories of the 1950’s, and so many more science fiction stories over time have become reality.

I can definitely recommend Fahrenheit 451. It’s a quick, easy, enjoyable, and thought provoking read.
